Milhouse came from Nova Scotia, and we changed his name to give him a fresh start. He was recently listed on Kijiji (a platform known for having dire outcomes for animals). In Milhouse’s case, the first few people who reached out wanted him for meat, and thankfully, he was rehomed to the sanctuary (at no cost) instead. Thank you to our volunteer, Lindsay, for advocating for him.
Milhouse’s mom gave birth to him and his two sisters at a hobby farm. He was separated from his mom a few months after he was born when she was given to a self-described goat meat farm. His sisters were bred this year, and Milhouse was separated from them over concern of the sisters miscarrying. Milhouse was desperate to get back to his sisters and kept escaping to get back to his family. We can’t give him his family back but hope that Ted will become a big brother to him.
So far, Milhouse has settled in considerably well! He’s a super sweet guy, easygoing, and a joy to care for. He’s already made friends with several volunteers, and we look forward to seeing him develop friendships with the animal residents soon, too.
