🎄 Calling all Sanctuary Santa's and Helpful Elves to the Holiday Hub!

2025

November 30, 2025

Over the weekend, we responded to an urgent request to take in 2 goats, Ellie and Klaus. Their caretaker needed to leave their home due to an unsafe situation, but wouldn’t leave until they knew Ellie and Klaus were safe, too.

What we know about Ellie so far is that she is approximately 4 years old. She’ll need to put on some weight, and quickly, as we move into the coldest months of the year!

Ellie was purchased as a "milking goat" and had previously been bred. We’re told she was a wonderful mother to two daughters. We weren't told what happened to her daughters.

So far, her personality is very sweet, and she has a kind way about her.

The previous caregiver purchased Klaus a couple of months ago in hopes of breeding with Ellie and "creating a smaller milking goat breed". We're told that because of Klaus's miniature stature, the previous caretaker didn't believe he was successful in his attempts to impregnate Ellie. The saying "where there's a will, there's a way" comes to mind, so we'll see if Ellie is going to be a mother again. If she is, she'll get to keep her babies. Needless to say, Klaus is already scheduled for a neuter in less than two weeks.
