2025

On May 27, 2025, several of our volunteers met early in the morning for “operation pick-up.”

Sam (HR manager) came to the sanctuary from NS to help out, Robyn came extra early to help get all the current residents set for the morning before we headed out, Tim hooked up the trailer and was our driver, Melina arrived with her animal handling skills, and I (Jamie) was of course there too.

We had been contacted a few months before about a sweet sheep who needed a forever home. She was a bottle baby who needed extra care after being outcast by her mom. To make sure she survived, she was fed a bottle and kept in diapers in the house for weeks before she returned to the barn.

Once back in the barn, she befriended and became extremely bonded to another sheep who was also a bottle baby.

Their names are Emma (previously named Memma) and Penelope (previously named Bubbles). Em and Pen 🥹.

We couldn’t bring these two friends to LP straight away, as Bob and Josie were in the quarantine house getting their disease screening done and catching up on basic care, such as shearing, hoof care, parasite treatments, and vaccinations.

Once Bob and Josie moved out of the quarantine house and “the littles” (Bob, Josie, and Rosie) all moved into their permanent house, the quarantine house was ready for Em and Pen.

The pickup went smoothly, and once back at the sanctuary, Em and Pen experienced being outside for the first time in a long while.

Since their arrival, they’ve been settling in, and we’ve been getting them caught up on their hoof care, parasite treatments, and vaccinations. The vet will be out this week to draw blood for disease screening. If all goes well with the test results, these two friends will have the chance to make many more sheep friends as they join the big sheep crew in the main barn.

Please welcome Em & Pen to LP!
