Freddy was making headlines in local Fredericton groups for being a goose on the loose near a busy off-ramp. 

People had been spotting Freddy for days, hanging out and getting dangerously close to the road as cars zoomed by. 

4 members of the Lily's Place animal care team went out to Fredericton and, along with a group of helpful people, were able to keep Freddy off the busy roads and, in short order, caught and loaded up for the ride back to the sanctuary.

Freddy was a great passenger and seemed quite content to lie on a pile of blankets between Jess and Sophia (LP animal care team members). Once we got back to the sanctuary, we settled Freddy into our quarantine area and checked for anything that needed immediate attention.

Freddy seems to be in good health so far, except for one of her legs. We’re keeping an eye on that leg, as there might be an old injury there or perhaps we’re seeing the result of inadequate nutrition when she was younger.

You may have noticed how small Freddy is for a goose. Some folks speculate that she was a duck because of her size; however, Freddy is indeed a goose. 

Breed, nutrition, and early care can all affect growth, but based on what we know right now, she is likely a juvenile goose, probably around 3–4 months old. 

As we track her weight over the next little while, we’ll get a better idea of her age and such.
