What It Means to Be a Board Member

Becoming a board member at Lily’s Place means using your unique skills to support a mission that’s bigger than all of us. You’ll be working alongside other passionate professionals, each bringing their own expertise to the table, as we work together to grow the sanctuary and save more lives.

This is not just a volunteer role—it’s a commitment to the animals and the mission of creating a world where farm animals can live with dignity, free from harm and suffering. We need board members who are ready to step up and make an impact, both individually and as part of a dedicated team.

Who We’re Looking For

At Lily’s Place, we aren’t just filling seats on our board. We’re looking for dedicated individuals who are passionate about our mission and eager to bring their skills to help us grow.

Our ideal candidate has:

A passion for animal welfare. You should care deeply about the plight of farm animals and align with our values of compassion, empathy, and ethical care.

Strategic leadership. We’re seeking individuals who bring leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities to the table.

Solid expertise. We're seeking board members who can provide specialist skills to support our growth, including (but not limited to) financial leadership, fundraising and development, grant writing, marketing and communications, event planning, and education program development.

Time and dedication. Our board members commit 4-5 hours per week, attend monthly meetings, and are actively engaged in supporting the sanctuary's initiatives.

What You’ll Do as a Board Member

As a board member, you will:

  • Provide mission-based leadership and strategic governance to guide the sanctuary.
  • Help manage financial planning and compliance, ensuring our resources are used wisely.
  • Assist in fundraising efforts to support our animal care programs and expansion.
  • Participate in community outreach, helping to raise awareness and build partnerships.
  • Collaborate with a dynamic team to ensure that we meet the sanctuary’s long-term goals and objectives.

Your role will be pivotal in driving forward our vision for the future—a future where farmed animals can live without fear, neglect, or abuse.

We're a hands-on "working" board

... which means this role isn't for everyone.

We know this role requires more than a passion for animals. You need the time, dedication, and energy to truly make an impact. If you're not ready to commit, this may not be the right opportunity for you. Our board members are hands-on leaders who stay deeply involved with every aspect of the sanctuary.

But, if you’re looking for a way to use your skills for good, and you feel driven to help us save lives, we want to hear from you.

Next Steps: Are You the Missing Piece?
