❤️🩹 Johnny Update! ❤️🩹
How fitting that Dr. Hourihan was at the sanctuary today during Veterinary Appreciation Day!
Though it goes without saying, around here, every day is Veterinary Appreciation Day!
And that couldn’t be more true now as we’ve been seeing a lot of our provincial veterinarians out at the sanctuary and the office staff when we pop into Sussex to pick up medications or send out various samples to the lab.
Last Monday was a big day for sending out lab samples; we’ve already gotten results back on many (all good so far!). That day, Sid, Johnny, June, Freddy, Bob, Mel, Moose, and Ellie were all seen by our vet, from everything from a simple follow-up to a full workup including samples collected for testing (blood, urine, fecal), and several medications administered.
Today, Johnny, Moose, Punky, Annie, and Merlin were on our vet’s radar. With 56 animals now in our care, many of them older, there’s always someone who can benefit from a vet check.
As many of you know from our previous post, Johnny has been under the weather lately.
Unfortunately, Johnny hasn’t improved despite the medications he received since the last vet visit. Last Monday, Johnny had samples collected for testing and some results already in. Everything so far has come back fine, so we don’t have a concrete answer yet. We’re worried about him because he’s lost a lot of weight in a short time. We’re really hoping Johnny Man, who’s normally a big presence in the barn (both in size and personality), rallies soon. Please keep him in your thoughts!
