Dr Houihan comes out to the sanctuary every two weeks.

The sanctuary is home to over 50 residents. They are previously neglected animals; animals recovering from injuries (or navigating their long-term effects); senior/aging animals with higher care needs; animals that need special considerations and care due to factors affecting their mobility; animals who found themselves in a dangerous situation and needed a safe place to call home; and so many other reasons too!

With all of those individuals relying on us for the care they need, we rely heavily on our Provincial Veterinarians, most notably Dr Houihan!

In this picture, from two weeks ago, Dr Houihan was using a mobility ultrasound for Moose.

Moose arrived back in the winter along with Claire, Charlie, and Rory (whom we call "the Bluenosers").

Thanks to Dr Houihan’s oversight, Moose has kicked a persistent, stubborn UTI that has plagued her since her arrival! Every time we’d think it had resolved, it would flare back up.

Poor Miss Moose was dribbling urine between regular urination, causing nasty sores and irritation! Dr Houihan stuck with Moose’s case, though that last UTI was no match for her treatment plan!

We’re so happy to say that Moose is cleared up now and feeling so much better! No more antibiotic injections, pain medication, or washing urine dribbles and applying diaper rash cream several times a day!

Thank you to Dr Houihan and all the GNB veterinarians who ensure animals like Miss Moose have someone looking out for them!
