Thank you so much to everyone who responded to the call-out for Rosie’s shoes! 🩷🩷❤️
Amazon has been consistently dropping off packages of shoes for Rosie, as well as medical supplies and other helpful items from our wishlist!
We’re so humbled and thankful that so many wonderful people are looking out for the animals here!
Since the call-out for shoes, another little lady here is looking rather stylish in a red bootie! Little Millie, who’s in her long-necked teenage phase, is missing bones in one of her back feet.
Recently, we noticed Millie slowing down a bit during the 2nd or 3rd walk to the pasture of the day. The sheep like to eat and then come in to “rest and digest” before making the trek back out again. On each walk out, they go farther into the pasture, including a whole new section we just fenced for them!
Because Millie’s back left leg has no hoof to stand on, we increased the frequency of Millie’s “stump checks” to make sure we caught any “wear and tear” that might crop up.
She’s been doing quite well since she arrived here last August, but with the increase in distance and steps each day, plus her stump always shifting unpredictably on impact, it wasn’t surprising to find a bit of a sore starting to develop. Parts of the bottom of her foot fare better than others, but to make sure she doesn’t develop any unnecessary issues, she’s rocking kicks now, just like Rosie!
Well, almost like Rosie … Millie has one shoe, whereas Rosie always wears two. 😉
Since getting her shoe, Millie has been making the trip to and from the pasture several times a day with no more wear on her stump!
Now that we’ve got her used to her shoe and the sore that was starting to develop has healed, the only thing left to figure out is whether Millie and Rosie have a chat about their matching kicks when they see each other at the fence line. 😉
P.s.
