Mr Blue has lived at the sanctuary since 2023 after being dumped in the woods to fend for himself. He was a young, parasite-covered, injured, and scared little mister back then.
Things certainly have changed for the better for Mr Blue! Today, he’s all grown up, super sweet, and known as the lap rooster around here!
While very few people will ever get the honour of Mr Blue perching on their lap, he has now determined that Sophia’s lap is a safe place to hang out. This is quite an acknowledgment from Mr Blue of how good Sophia is with the residents here!
Sophia has been with us for well over a year now, first as a volunteer, then as our very first part-time animal care hire! Now that Sophia will be heading back to school for the fall (she’s on track to become a veterinarian!), all of us, especially Mr Blue, are relieved that she’ll still be at the sanctuary each weekend.
Between her animal care duties, Sophia helps me (Jamie) with all kinds of other behind-the-scenes stuff like emails, scheduling, communications, and more! Don’t be surprised if you get an email, call, or text from her 😀
In fact, depending on the day, Mr Blue could easily be considered the “middle man” between Sophia and the communication she’s sending out. And I mean that literally, as Sophia looks around Mr Blue’s head to see her phone!
Mr Blue is quite content with this arrangement as long as there’s room to perch and he can tap the phone screen every once in a while hehe.
