Definitely late posting this, but during the summer, we put up a "cool room" for the sheep who were really struggling during the heatwaves in early July and early August.

The temperatures were regularly soaring into the low-to-mid 30s°C during that time, so using the chain-link frame that was already in the barn, along with donated insulation panels (thanks, Corena!) and a few other materials, we set up the sheep’s favourite summer hangout!

The most vulnerable to heat stroke among the sheep (Punky, Annie, Charlie, and Rory) were all showing early warning signs during the first part of the summer. After the cool room was set up, they didn’t have any other worrisome incidents!

It’s not "pretty" by any means, but it worked wonderfully! We’ll be taking part of it down for the winter, as there’s an overhead stall heater above this that will need to be accessible. However, now that we know the cool room idea worked, it will be worth setting it up again next year before the heatwaves start.
