Worrying about animals you care about, community members losing their jobs, and the preventable suffering that will ensue come spring is […]

More sad news from the sanctuary. 💔 Last night, our dear friend Mr. Pink passed away sometime after 10 pm. He was found in the morning with no visible signs of trauma, and his little buddy, Professor Peapod, was standing watch over him. Professor moved aside for us and watched over our shoulders as we […]

Believe farm animals deserve a vet, too? So do we. The time has passed to sit back and wait for the provincial government to reverse their decision. We are headed into an animal welfare crisis that has already brought to light increased suffering and neglect. Our intake and rehoming requests typically total 200 a year, […]

Devastating news: Merlin passed suddenly tonight 💔 He arrived back at the sanctuary yesterday from surgery at AVC. He was walking better than we had ever seen him move, yet in less than 24 hours, he collapsed and nearly instantly was gone. 😞 Merlin has been taken to the provincial lab for a necropsy to […]

Kate in bed and enjoying the fan 🌬️ Kate’s story can be found on this page: https://lilysplace.ca/pasture2025

2 pieces of good news! First, Merlin’s Dr reported that he was much more alert this morning. He got up and came over to say hello easily, and he can now move his leg forward! As you’ll recall, he couldn’t move his left foot forward before surgery, so this is huge news! He’s having his […]

Merlin made it through surgery! This photo is right after getting back to his stall while he was still really groggy. The team at AVC has had him up and standing but he was experiencing more pain after surgery than they’d like. Depending on how he does over night, he might be able to come […]
