Tomorrow, Merlin and Beatrice will go to AVC before the weather worsens in the afternoon.
Getting Merlin to AVC is the top priority for tomorrow – he’s severely limping, and as the very sensitive guy he is, he’s been shaking, not from the cold. He calms down quite a bit when I comfort him, but it’s heartbreaking to see him so confused and not himself.
Tim has a feeling Merlin will shut down when we try to load him into the trailer in the morning. Merlin is especially sensitive and was completely shut down when he arrived in our care. Here’s hoping sweet Merlin can put his past behind him and trust us enough to get him loaded and to the animal hospital without issue.
As I mentioned, Beatrice will also be going to AVC. Merlin needs a companion because he’ll stay at least one night at the hospital, and while we usually would have brought Mel with him, Beatrice is going for her own checkup!
Back when Beatrice was in stall rest for her hernia surgery, she was accompanied by Milhouse, who decided to try to jump the stall wall. Luckily, we caught him before he hurt himself.
However, Bea quickly followed Milhouse, falling on her shoulder. This was only a few days after she returned home from surgery. We were very worried about her hernia repair, but thankfully, it was fine.
While her hernia surgery healed well, her shoulder still bothers her sometimes. To determine if Bea needs anything for her shoulder beyond time, she’ll be examined as well.
The afternoon plan is to bring Annie and Sid home, while Merlin and Beatrice stay for diagnostics, but the weather might change those plans.
Annie is still limping, but that’s expected after her recent surgery. She still has plenty of healing ahead, but she’s ready to come home. We’ve been told that Annie and Sid have been very social while they’ve been there, which doesn’t surprise us at all. They are both sweet, friendly sheep who like nearly everyone, whether they are sheep or humans!
