When farm animals face neglect or abandonment, who can help them?
Be The Reason

Merlin damaged his horns during his “escape” from AVC.
While he didn’t want to be walked down the hall that leads to the door out of the hospital, once he spotted the trailer, he was going for it!
When he got to the trailer, he attempted to jump up into it but only got halfway. He got his front half up, flopped, and put his horn into the side of the trailer.
Tim helped Merlin get the rest of the way into the trailer and off his side before Merlin hurt himself (more). Once Merlin was upright, he turned around in the trailer and looked at Tim as if to say, “Let’s get the heck outta here!”
Beatrice, on the other hand, easily walked to the trailer and jumped up into it herself without any drama.
Merlin had warmed up to the friendly folks at the hospital after two days and was snuggling up to everyone. But as the saying goes, there’s no place like home, and Merlin was ready to get back to his friends.

As many of you know, Merlin is an extra sensitive guy, and since returning from the hospital has been a bit off. This is his nature; he regresses quickly with any changes, and a trip to PEI and staying in a place he didn’t know would have been super taxing on him.
Since his big trip, he’s been super nervous each time anyone looks at him across the barn. He’ll dip his head, look away, and start shaking. The shaking doesn’t last long as he begins to realize nothing is up, and we don’t have any plan to make our way over to him. This behaviour has been limited to people looking at him from a certain distance
Up close, Merlin is as snuggly as ever, demanding cuddle time, and being a bit of a barnacle (stuck right to me!). He’s coming around to eating his special supper again. Before tonight, he had been turning his nose up at. He also allowed us to give him his meds tonight. These are all good signs for our extra-sensitive guy.
