Assistant to the Executive Director – Animal Care
Lily’s Place Animal Sanctuary | Codys, NB | Part-time
Lily’s Place is a registered charity and vegan-run sanctuary providing lifelong care to aging, injured, and displaced farm animals in Codys, New Brunswick.
We’re looking for a hands-on, reliable person to join our small team. The primary focus of this role is hands-on animal care. Depending on seasonal needs, shifts may also include facilities and maintenance work or occasional administrative support for the Executive Director. This is a part-time, fixed-term contract position running through the end of August 2026.
What you’ll be doing
Primary:
- Animal care: daily feeding and watering of residents, cleaning bedding and enclosures, supervised medication administration and physical interventions (physiotherapy, bracing, hoof/nail trimming), lifting hay and straw, assisting volunteers with animal care tasks.
Secondary:
- Facilities and maintenance: groundskeeping and outdoor space upkeep, fencing maintenance, cleaning and maintenance of animal living spaces (indoor and outdoor), enrichment of resident environments, and assisting with various projects that support and improve the lives of the animals in our care.
- Administrative support: light tasks to support the Executive Director as needed, based on day-to-day operational volume.
What we’re looking for
- Physically able to perform manual labour, including lifting
- Reliable, self-directed, and comfortable working independently on a rural property
- Genuine care for farm animals and alignment with our mission
- Experience with animals or property maintenance is an asset but not required — we’re happy to train
The details
- Start date: as soon as possible
- Hours: 20–25 hours per week
- Wage: $15.90/hr (NB minimum wage)
- Contract term: through August 31, 2026
- Location: on-site at 9 Clubhouse Lane, Codys, NB
