The Kindness Club Foundation Inc – Vision of Mrs. Aida Flemming was established in 1959, and our “Safe Haven Shelter Expansion” project, which just got funded by the Kindness Club, embodies Aida’s vision when she said, “We have done so much, but there is so much more to do.” This is a major step toward […]

When Tim and I founded Lily’s Place Animal Sanctuary in 2019, our volunteer team could be counted on one hand—and that count included the two of us. We were driven by a vision to provide sanctuary and exceptional care to animals so often dismissed as “just farm animals,” as if they were somehow less deserving […]

The next several weeks are going to be extra busy at Lily’s Place as we prepare for six new rescues, all arriving within a short window. Some are leaving situations that have become dangerous. Others come from a rare circumstance in which animals are seldom given a future at all. Two will be picked up […]

Jessica stopped by Milhouse and Bea’s stall at the large animal hospital at AVC to check on them. Both are doing well, and we hear that Bea is becoming a favourite! Milhouse is, as usual, his happy-go-luck self, and while he was happy to see Jess and greeted her like an old friend, he went […]

Please welcome Opal to Lily’s Place! Opal is joining us to live out her golden years after her hen friend passed away. She’s a sweet and social hen who’s lived with a volunteer since Opal and her hen friends were rescued several years ago. Now that Opal is the last hen of the flock that […]

We just heard from AVC; Beatrice’s surgery went well! They were able to close up the hernia, and while Bea is still groggy, she’s waking up from surgery well. We were also informed that Milhouse is being a great support buddy. The pair will be able to come home to the sanctuary on Friday.

It’s been a tough week here, and as it seems, good or bad, things come in at least 3s (one, two, three)! We realized a 4th thing tonight when we were notified about an error in the 2026 Calendar prints. You’re getting this email because our system flagged you as someone who either sponsored or purchased a […]

I hope you’re sitting down for this, my friends. See the picture below? That’s Mel, a couple of months after she arrived in our care. Yup, I said AFTER. So what you’re looking at is what her body looked like after two months of excellent nutrition, rest, and a home where she wasn’t called an […]

Soft straw, gentle heat, and a little help from their friends (that’s you!) Without straw and heat, winter is harsh — especially for animals who are older, injured, or still recovering. You can make the sanctuary stalls cozy and warm when it matters most. Lily’s Place is built on a promise: to give rescued animals lifelong sanctuary, […]

Rescuing a family of sheep This winter, four gentle sheep have a chance to find safety and lifelong care at Lily’s Place Animal Sanctuary. They’re part of a larger group of nine sheep being placed by a partner rescue — and with your help, we can open our gates to welcome these four home. When […]

Beatrice is a kind soul who’s been through more than any animal should ever have to go through. She was seized alongside Merlin, Mel, and Kate in a heartbreaking cruelty case. The accused faces charges under both the SPCA Act and the Criminal Code of Canada for failing to provide food, water, shelter, or care. […]

This time of year, we receive requests to take in multiple roosters every few days. Many come from people who once cared for them as chicks, now threatening to have them “processed” if we can’t help. This pattern is a result of the backyard chicken industry. Each spring, chicks are sold to people hoping for […]

Rosie’s checking out the sheep chair that our good friend sent to the sanctuary! Why is this not only a generous gift but an incredibly thoughtful one? I (Jamie) don’t always have a second person to help with Rosie’s shoe changes (or Josie’s physiotherapy). That’s where the sheep chair comes in! Judas put the chair […]

Earlier today, we received Billy’s post-mortem exam from AVC. For those who may not know Billy’s story, he came into our care in early January after an urgent call for help. Over the years, he had lived in several homes, and while he was loved, his medical needs eventually outgrew what could be provided. After […]
